RFID

In a modern warehouse with high performance rates it is important, to have safe processes and nevertheless great time savings. For example with pallet registration and tracing or storage place identification. The conventional method - manual scanning - is rather time-consuming.

Are pallets and their movements as well as storage positions registered automatically and tracked with the Warehouse Management System (WMS), this will contribute essentially to the efficiency of the warehouse. Jungheinrich offers additionally to the conventional manual scanning automated solutions for fast and efficient identification of pallets and storage positions.

RFID technology

Load aids, goods and bays are equipped with transponders. As the driver enters the pallet or rack, the RFID system on the truck automatically reads the transponders. The relevant information is sent to the WMS via the Jungheinrich Logistics Interface. To read the transponders the RFID antennae can be mounted on the outside of the truck or incorporated in the forks.

RFID incorporated in the forks

Liquid or metal goods affect communication between transponder and antenna. Jungheinrich offers an effective solution for these applications: an RFID antenna incorporated in the forks of the truck which reads the transponder in the middle leg of the pallet on stacking/retrieval. This solution also enables several pallets in a row to be identified. This allows the particular requirements of the food and drinks industry – e.g. compliance with EU standard 178/2002 – to be fulfilled.

The advantages

  • Significant time-savings. The rack location or pallet information is read automatically as the truck enters the pallet or the rack.
  • Very high level of process safety with low error rates.
  • Additional relief for the driver.
  • Easy identification even on multiple pallet transports.
